Stop the Candy Shop.

stcs

Watch the preview for the film. You can watch it in its entirety here. This is a cause very special to me. This organization raises awareness for human trafficking in the United States. Street Grace is currently focused on the Atlanta area, but this problem is nationwide and could use support and advocacy. There are many simple ways to support this cause. Making a difference could be as simple as showing this video to a small group and having discussion. Talking about this problem can encourage action and desire. There are also many ways to volunteer and donate. (http://streetgrace.org/get-involved/).

Making a difference doesn't always involve money. Sometimes, it just requires educating and making others aware of these important issues. This parable/fairy tale is a great way to do just that.

I encourage you to look around http://streetgrace.org/ and read more about this cause. Some of the facts they have found may shock you.

Trash Mountain.

Trash Mountain is a not-for-profit organization that is doing amazing things. To see a video explaining more about the organization, you can go here. This video focuses on their project in the Dominican Republic. There are many poverty stricken areas around the world that are built around trash dumps. The community actually attempts to live off of these heaps. Searching for food, clothing, and other means of survival, they are exposed to many dangerous chemicals, disease, and unsanitary products. Trash Mountain has built a school, provided medical assistance, and has a constant presence in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Cambodia. There are many opportunities to not only serve with Trash Mountain, but there are many other ways to help as well. Donating to this organization helps with the constant healthcare and education they are providing to these people. You can also donate trip participants. This enables people who feel a calling into this type of service to be able to go and help. This project is especially dear to my heart because I am lucky enough to work with them from May 14-21. If you are at all interested, you can support me, looking into going on a trip yourself, or support the organization as a whole. Support can be financially, but it can also be through prayer and encouragement. Even short term trips can be extremely eye opening and life changing.

If you are at all interested in supporting me financially or through prayer, let me know so I can update you on the different things I experience while I am there.

To support financially, go to www.trashmountain.com and click on the donate tab. There is an option to support a trip participant. You can enter Kelsey Warren, or if you know of any other participants, I would encourage you to support them. This is an incredible opportunity and I am so blessed.

I can't wait to show you so many other causes and organizations I have found that you can possibly find your passion with. There are so many ways to make a difference, and if this organization doesn't tug at your heart like it does mine, I hope to post about one in the future that does.

Best.

I've always struggled with the proper way to live my life. Growing up in America, it is very easy to desire finding a high paying job, living in a nice house, and having the picture perfect family. There is nothing wrong with wanting the best. There is nothing wrong with working hard to obtain these things. However, I've also come to realize there is so much more. There are people who have little to no opportunity to make something better of their lives. While we are on the pursuit for the "best" the world has to offer, why not try to do something to better our homes, our communities, and our world? This blog is my attempt to open my eyes and hopefully others as well to the different things, big or small, we can do to make an impact on the world.
